They say everything's bigger in Texas. Well, that's certainly true of the construction conference some of us attended in Austin last week. The annual Groundbreak Construction Conference is growing rapidly, beginning with just 200 attendees in 2015 to more than 2,000 in 2017. This year's event boasted speakers such as Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, and Mike Rowe, creator and host of the Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs. So, the conference is pretty awesome.
Groundbreak '17 featured a range of training and learning opportunities, with a particular focus on Procore, the construction industry's leading project management software. JMC made the switch to Procore this year, and has committed significant resources to not only implement the program, but to ensure all of our employees are thoroughly trained in using it. And so far, it's paying off. We're finding we can do more (and faster), and since Procore is cloud-based and contains mobile apps, accessibility to information has increased dramatically. This is true not only for our office and field staff, but for our customers and project stakeholders as well. Overall, managing our projects has become more efficient, which not only benefits us, but helps our customers by controlling the information flow and eliminating inefficiencies.
