Project Description:
J.M. Coull worked with Caliper Life Sciences through an intense pre-construction phase to evaluate nine potential locations before beginning the complete renovation of a 50,000 square foot building comprised of offices, laboratories, and training space.
The company added approximately 10,000 square feet to each floor of an existing 100,000-square foot, two-story building by adding two conventional steel building additions. Additional renovations included new corporate lobby and entry systems, administrative, conference and ancillary space build outs. The building renovations and structural additions were completed while the building was occupied during this complex 15-month construction project.
Project Features: Existing underground utilities connecting the two buildings required careful excavation, and in some cases, hand-digging to avoid damaging abundant critical utilities including fiber-optics, electrical, septic, and site water drainage systems.
Installation of a new sanitary force main to town sewer for the entire park.
Caliper realized $300,000 of cost savings as a result of Value Engineering Services that took place during the pre-construction process. |
